The 2012 Buddy Jeffers Memorial Scholarship
The family and friends of Buddy Jeffers have established this scholarship to honor his memory and his contributions to the field of agriculture. Recipients of The Buddy Jeffers Memorial Scholarship will be awarded $3,000.
Students seeking a scholarship will need to submit an application form, an essay on the following topic:
Who are the government agencies involved in regulating the livestock/beef industry in the United States ? From the cow/calf sector, stocker, feeders, marketing agencies, transportation, the packing house and retail (pasture to plate) do you feel our government agencies are an asset or liability to the industry?
Applicants should also include a recent professional photograph (photo-copies not acceptable), a certified copy of your current transcript, one to three letters of recommendation and a letter of intent. The letter of intent should include information on current and planned studies, career goals and interests.
Deadline for Applying:
Applications to be considered for the 2011 - 2012 academic year must be received by close of business Monday, June 11, 2012. Incomplete applications will NOT be processed. No exceptions.
Duration and Amount of Scholarship:
Recipients of The Buddy Jeffers Memorial Scholarship will be awarded $3,000. This scholarship will be awarded annually.

Qualifications to be Considered:
Recipients of the scholarship must show excellent scholastic achievement in their academic career (minimum 3.3 cumulative GPA required), maintain full-time student status and be an individual of high character and integrity. Students pursuing degrees in the livestock industry will be given special consideration. The scholarship will be awarded without regard to sex, race, color, national origin or religion.
Selection Process:
The Board of Trustees is comprised of 6 voluntary members, some of whom are/or have previously been directly affiliated with Superior Livestock Auctions. Scholarship recipients will be chosen by the Board of Trustees of the Buddy Jeffers Memorial Scholarship at the end of July.
Method of Awarding the Scholarship:
The scholarship recipient will receive a check made payable to his/her educational institution. No monies will be awarded until proper proof of enrollment has been provided as scholarship is to be for tuition purposes only.
Notification:
Applicants will be mailed a notification letter which should be received the second week of August. Please refrain from calling the board for status updates. Calls after mid-August are welcome if the notification letter was not received.
